About Me

Welcome to my world of nonpareils! I created this blog to share my adventures in baking and sugar craft. Feel free to leave a comment.  I'd love to hear your thoughts, ideas and suggestions!  I have always been fond of that sweet, usually last course of a meal, but I wasn't always a baker and dessert maker.  For years, I was an aspiring painter. Most of my employed life has been spent working in galleries for local artisans. I still paint, but I have found a new joy in the art of baking and sugar craft.  I try my best to assemble delightful desserts that are as artful as they are delicious.

In short, Sprinkle Bakes is about making dessert beautiful. Here you will find a collection of recipes for all varieties of sweet treats. You'll also find tutorials, step-by-step instructions and recipes for novice bakers.  I do prefer made-from-scratch recipes, but would never criticize anyone for using a box mix.  I think they make nice shortcuts and do use them myself.

Maybe it's the kid inside me that never went out, or the kid outside me that never went in.  However you want to look at it, I love sprinkles of any kind. They are joyful, colorful, interesting, special.  And concerning dessert, that's just how I like it.

I love this blog! I came across it on Tastespotting while I was looking for macaron recipes. I subscribed to your blog and have just come to the end, reading/looking at all your posts.

Your deserts are so pretty and perfect. I want to make everything you've put on here!

I am graphic designer living in Las Vegas, but have been thinking more and more how great it would be just to make pretty cakes and cookies all day. Maybe someday...

I also love Biscuit! I used to have a pug when I was a small girl, Miss Puggy. Now I have a Boston Terrier, Henry, and he's the best little friend ever.

Keep up the beautiful & colorful baking! I also love your photography, it's what turns a good blog a great one, and yours is now an instant favorite for me.

Thanks! Sarah

Hi Heather, I'm an aspiring baker and am pretty new to American/World cuisine (I'm from India, residing presently in the US). I was searching for coconut milk panna cotta recipe and came across your blog. What do I say, I'm plain speechless, awestruck maybe thunder struck!! Everything from the pictures, to the recipes are awfully simple, yet the most elegant and sphisticated. Just yesterday I got a book to learn making the sugar candy and chocolate patterns at home..I'm glad I did after looking at your blog :) I'm sorry, I know this is a long comment, but I just had to tell you how gorgeous your blog is!! I'm going to follow you regularly now on and complain if you do not post new recipes :) Hope you have a great day!! Happy Baking!

I found your recipe for Peanut Butter Mouse in Tuile Cookie Spoon via StumbleUpon but got hooked with the baked mini donuts.

We also have rescued 2 pugs. Our current Sir Jake is a fine noble beast that is a pure delight.

Keep up the sweet work ...

I just found your site and LOVE it!! You are one of the most talented food bloggers out there.

I'm curious... How did you start cooking? Have you had any training with food or photography?

I just discovered your blog and I love it! I'm so inspired by why you've created on here in a year - my sister and I have had our site for almost a year and are not even close to what you've achieved!

P.S. Love your pugs! I had one named Humphrey growing up!

Just discovered your site today, and read all your archives!...Will you be my best friend? I love your recipes, your photos are gorgeous and you keep me laughing if not smiling. I too have an art background and recently discovered that I can combine my passion for baking with a creative twist! Please tell me a good source for Non-Pareils, sprinkles and those gorgeous pastel dragees!

Hi Gigi,

Of course I will! Thanks for your enthusiasm! It's always nice to meet a kindred spirit. As for the nonpareils, I like shopping at fancyflours.com. That's where the pastel dragees came from. They have a large assortment of sprinkles, confetti and quins. I go a little crazy each time I visit.

Thanks for reading!

Your photos are beautiful. I just "Stumbled Upon" the spiral cookie recipe you outlined and I will be making it in the next few days. I'm gonna visit fancyflours.com and will probably go crazy as well. Looking forward to visiting your blog and reading more about you and your adorable dog, and of course for the recipes too!
