Welcome to my world of nonpareils! I started this blog in 2009 as a self-taught baker and desserts enthusiast. Today I’m a trained pastry chef, cookbook author, freelance recipe developer and photographer. It’s my personal mission to learn all I can about baking and pastry, and to share it with you!
Before I fell in love with baking, I was an aspiring artist. For years I worked in art galleries with artists of every stripe: painters, sculptors, glass blowers, and textile artists. That love has translated into using art techniques on all kinds of confections. I even wrote a book about it! It’s called SprinkleBakes: Dessert Recipes to Inspire Your Inner Artist. You can read all about it here.
Following are some examples of the creative desserts I make!
Zodiac Constellation Cake
Bubble Gum Frosting Cupcakes
Orange Poppyseed Marimekko Cake
A Dozen Rose Cupcakes
My second baking book, called Sea Salt Sweet, was published late 2015. It celebrates my love for all things salty-sweet. It contrasts my first cookbook, which was all about art technique creative dessert-making. Sea Salt Sweet tends to me more about approachable sweets with big focus on flavor (think Chocolate Chunk Kettle Chip Cookies, and Double Chocolate Cream Cheese Brownies). You can read more about it here.
Following are some of my favorite salty-sweet dessert recipes!
Triple Salted Caramel Cupcakes
Salty Sweet Peanut Butter Cup Bars
Double Frosted Salted Caramel Mocha Cake
Salted Caramel Snickerdoodle Bundt Cake
(I think between the two books, all manner of desserts are covered!)
