Christmas at the Workshop

Sprinkle Bakes Christmas

Merry Christmas Eve!

I’ve had such a fun month of baking, and blogging for 24 consecutive days is always a challenge for me. I suppose it’s tradition now that I’ve been doing it for four years! I hope you’ve enjoyed it all as much as I have.

I don’t have a new recipe for you today, but if you’re looking for an easy last-minute gift I might suggest a jar of  Spiked Hot Fudge Sauce or maybe thisRocky Road Brownie Mix. Today I thought you might like a little peek at how we decorated the workshop for Christmas.

I’m all about the retro Christmas ornaments and nostalgic knick-knacks! Little touches of color seemed to brighten the whole room and definitely made doing dishes a bit more cheerful.

As you can tell, I’m really into the white artificial pine this year. It’s draped around windows, on top of cabinets – all over! It’s hard to see, but our little white tree has macaron, cupcake and doughnut ornaments hanging on its branches. OH – and I’d like to introduce you to Ann! She wears many hats here and is a great helper. She’s also an excellent pug wrangler, which I find extremely valuable. Biscuit and Churro love her to pieces.

Hello hello, it’s me with all those jars of Port Wine Jelly! I’m tying these up with pretty ribbon for gifting. (If you’re a family member reading this, act surprised when you get your jar.)

Our tall channel rack was overflowing with cookies and candy because we baked, cooked, or assembled something new every day! Above you can see Stained Glass Sugar Cookies, Flowers of Scotland Sugar Cookies, and just a peek of Tahini Fudge.

It’s hard to believe Christmas is tomorrow! I wish all of you love and love and love. Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays. I hope you get to eat all of your favorite things this week!

Hi Heather, I looked forward to receiving all your recipe emails before Christmas, so inspiring! I spent too many hours in the kitchen this year baking for give away presents and my own Christmas party that I almost missed enjoying the holiday season. That being said, I received a bag of smoked brown sugar that I'm dying to try. I searched your website and found the Gingersnap cookies you made using the smoked brown sugar. Can I use it in most recipes calling for brown sugar or do you think the smoky flavor will be lost in say chocolate chip… Read more »

Hi Jodie! My apologies for the slow reply! Thank you so much for the kind words. Christmas can be a lot of work for the baker in the family. Sometimes it's hard to steal moments for yourself. But I'm certain your gifts were so appreciated! Smoked brown sugar can be used in any recipe that contains brown sugar, but I find that the smoky flavor is best (more pronounced) with a short bake time. For example, a chocolate chip cookie recipe that bakes for 10-12 minutes is a good candidate, versus a brown sugar pound cake that bakes for 1… Read more »

Hi Heather: I just wanted to tell you that you always make me smile (and that's fairly tough! LOL). This post is especially cheery. Thanks for all you do and welcoming us into your kitchen workshop. You have such talent!
