Classic No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie is rich and creamy with a crisp chocolate cookie crust. It’s quick to make and a real crowd-pleaser!
It’s been over two months since we’ve eaten any kind of restaurant food or take-out. So I confess: I am a little sick of my own cooking. This past week my usual creative dinners were replaced with prepackaged ravioli, canned soups and pop-tarts for dessert. I simply ran out of steam and interest. However, I plan to do better next week armed with simple oldie-but-goodie recipes that I haven’t made in while. This peanut butter pie is one of those recipes. And a wonderful comfort food! Even though I have made it countless times, I have never posted it here. Today’s the day!
A Family Favorite
When I say I’ve made this pie countless times, I do mean it. On one occasion – my parent’s anniversary party in 2017 – I made about 20 peanut butter pies with the help of my sister-in-law (and some ready-made crusts). I didn’t get any great pictures of the pies, but here’s a little photo collage of the menu and the sweets I made. I may have spent more time on the tiered cake than all of the pies – but the pies were the most raved about by the guests! This recipe truly is a crowd-pleaser.
Begin with 20 chocolate cream-filled cookies for a chocolate cookie crust. Traditionally, it is Oreo cookies, but you can replace them with an equal amount of graham cracker crumbs.
Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Filling
Next, whip cream cheese and smooth peanut butter together. This forms the creamy foundation of this pie. Then add a can of sweetened condensed milk. Beat until well combined. Fold in whipped cream. This creates a cloud-like pie filling.
Pour the filling into the chilled crust and refrigerate. At this point, you could call it a day and call the pie finished. If you’re looking for a little more eye appeal, you can dress it up with a topping of whipped cream and simple chocolate decors.
Easy Chocolate Curls
This technique for making chocolate curls/decors is one of my favorites, and you may remember it from these Tiramisu Cupcakes. It’s so easy to achieve by spreading chocolate on long strips of parchment paper, rolling the strips, and then chilling them.
When you unroll the sheet, tah-dah! Beautifully curved chocolate pieces.
I love how they look on top of this pie. It’s an extra step and completely optional, but a nice touch for a special occasion.
Our family has a lot to celebrate this month with some Happy Birthdays next week. I can’t wait to have a slice of this very pie with family!
Well wishes! xo

Hi! I don’t have quite 4 hours to chill. Can I freeze or just go for a softer set at 2 hours?
You can do either! The pie is really delicious soft set, but it will slice more neatly if you freeze it.
It’s really nice to hear people like yourselves being cautious even though your state is reopening. It’s tremendously scary to hear about places reopening when COVID-19 is far from being contained.
Thank you. I agree, it is scary. xo
For heaven's sake, I am writing from Spain and know what this terrible virus can do to a country and its people. Ignore Trump, please be very careful, wear face masks and gloves, wash your hands all the time and change your shoes when you come in from the street. Try to go out as little as possible, the only safe place is your home, nowhere in Europe or the USA are we at the end of this nightmare yet.
I'm so sorry that your country has had to endure so much pain and tragedy. Our family has decided to rely on our own critical thinking and decency going forward to protect ourselves and everyone around us. Very best wishes to you. xo
Thank you, Heather! This PIE was easy and delicious! -Paula Akbari
Hi Paula! So glad you liked it. Thanks for trying the recipe! -h
Hi heather – this looks delicious – I am making it this wknd. will the condensed milk make this too sweet? And does my peanut butter have to have salt? I am not a huge fan of super sweet desserts, but I am craving this pie. Please advise if this is not too sweet? Thanks!
Hi Rupa! You could absolutely use a reduced/low or no sodium peanut butter for this pie. It should be smooth and creamy peanut butter, though. Using smooth peanut butter along with the sweetened condensed milk gives it the right kind of slice-able texture. It is a sweet pie, but the unsweet whipped cream cuts the sweetness. You may want to omit the chocolate toppings, because they will add to the sweetness.
Just made this pie and it is perfect! I could honestly eat the whole thing myself. Thank you for sharing.
Just made this and it is sitting in the fridge waiting for dessert time this evening. The filling is quite high. Will it decrease a bit while cooling?
