Peanut Butter Pugs n Tails

In an earlier post I mentioned that I would like to offer dog treats on my upcoming Etsy site. Today I feel confident in saying that I will definitely have treats for our little furry babies.

This recipe contains whole wheat flour, all natural unsalted peanut butter (thank you Amish market) and skim milk. The eyes are fashioned out of yogurt drops and a touch of all natural food coloring.

I really wanted to get some pictures of Biscuit (my Pug) enjoying one of the freshly made treats. Impossible! As soon I offered it to him he ran away with it. I kept chasing him trying to snap his picture but he was having none of it. He had already eaten the face off of the cookie anyway. He was being so protective - I gave up. He gobbled it up and then snagged a peanut butter pug tail off the plate in the dining room. The behavior is not ideal, but it made me happy that he likes them so well. He is constantly begging for human food and can be so picky when it comes to dog treats.

I have to mention (as we all know) that treats are not a replacement for regular meals. I'm sure my dog, if left to his own devices would eat treats ONLY! Part of caring for our animals is making good food choices for them.

I leave you with my little cookie thief.

  2. Is there a recipe for dog treats with this post that I'm missing somewhere? I've looked around and I can't seem to find any. And I hate to say it....even though Biscuit (now I DO love the name by the way) is as cute as can be, I'm still extremely partial to golden retrievers. I used to be subscribed to a blog from a girl out of Pittsburgh that owns two goldens, Einstein and Duke and I really liked her site but she over time added SO MANY advertisements on her site that I couldn't move my mouse two inches over ANYTHING in the site without some pop-up flying up at me. It all just became too much. In the time I was subscribed to her site she became engaged, got married, got her second golden puppy Duke, had her first baby and was expecting her second baby. I think it might have been the very first blog I subscribed to. I guess she added that many ads to make BIG money but there comes a time when you have to think of your readers. I liked most of her recipes but her site just became a misery to open. So...I decided, why put myself through this every day? She used to do a good many dog treats and always something special on either of the dog's birthdays. I've missed that.
